Two Day Business Writing Workshop

To succeed in today’s business world, one must be able to write with clarity in both e-mails and letters. This expanded version of Baker’s One-Day Business Writing workshop goes into more detail and allows participants to spend more time practicing the skills they learn in this hands-on workshop. From at least six different types of documents varying in format, participants will refine their drafting, writing and editing skills. Additionally, each participant will bring a current project and get one-on-one feedback from the workshop leader.

Business professionals at all levels who want a quick and easy approach to almost any writing task will analyze audience needs, organize writing styles for maximum effectiveness and write in a clear, professional style. Participants learn a writing process that reduces the amount of time spent writing while increasing effectiveness. Baker’s workshop guarantees to improve communication skills and, as a result, increase productivity and job satisfaction.

Objectives:

  • Organize writing for greater effectiveness

  • Use a writing style that is both professional and clear

  • Write and edit by asking five simple questions:

    1. Reader Analysis: Who is my reader?

    2. Organization: What do I want to happen as a result of this document?

    3. Lists: Do I repeat words? Do I use words like also, next, then and finally?

    4. Headings: What topics do I cover?

    5. Style: How would I say this over the phone?
