Jay McCormick, Senior
Trainer
Jay is a Senior Instructor with Baker
Communications. Jay brings with him a wealth of teaching and
public speaking experience gained from several years of
instructing at the university, college, and high school
levels. During his career, Jay has taught hundreds of
students with diverse backgrounds and professional
experience. In each of these unique teaching environments,
Jay earned notoriety as a passionate instructor who inspired
his students to great success. In the past, his educational
emphasis has been to improve his students’ skills in the
areas of rhetoric (with a focus on effective written and
verbal argumentation and persuasion), presentation skills,
technical writing, composition, literature, and creative
writing.
His knowledge and skills have added value to the Baker core
curriculum. Additionally, he has expanded his expertise to
include the following areas:

Prior to joining Baker Communications, Jay also played an
instrumental role in creating, coordinating and implementing
interactive, educational programs for large groups of
students. During this time he initiated programs for over
3,000 students with budgets up to $20,000. His
responsibilities extended into presenting information to
sizeable audiences of students, parents, faculty and
administrators. His charisma, presence, and diverse teaching
background have afforded him the honor of being named to
“Who’s Who among America’s Teachers” and a nomination for
the Sam Houston State University “Excellence in Writing
Award.”
Jay earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees in English
from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX and is a
member of the alumni association. In his spare time, Jay
enjoys guitar, fishing, golf, working out, and reading. Back
