Jose Cox, Senior Consultant
Jose is a community relations manager,
translator, facilitator, project manager
and business strategist. He is bilingual
and bicultural in English and Spanish.
Jose has facilitated diversity awareness and workforce
inclusion workshops resulting in improved employee relations,
better understanding of cultural differences, team building
and conflict resolution for Fortune 500 companies. He
coordinated a supplier diversity program focused at developing
business partnerships between corporate business units and
minority and women owned enterprises.
His bilingual-bicultural capabilities have been utilized
extensively to conduct translations, market research focus
groups, facilitate workshops, negotiations, presentations and
consultation about Hispanic markets throughout the United
States and Puerto Rico.
He has over 20 years experience in community relations and
public affairs. He designed and implemented a communications
program to facilitate access of Hispanics and other ethnic
customer groups to utility services and energy programs.
Coordinated the activities of several community advisory
councils to monitor the implementation of communication
strategies targeted at multicultural markets. Directed
marketing campaigns to introduce energy assistance, energy
conservation, electrical safety programs and health services
to new markets.
Jose has extensive experience as a translator of training
materials, consumer education literature, technical documents,
newsletters, middle school curricula and more for various
clients in the energy, engineering, transportation, health
care industries, government and public education. He has
facilitated numerous focus groups for market research of
services and products. He has also conducted cultural
assessment research at various Fortune 500 companies focused
on improving team work and ensuring workforce inclusion.
As a project manager, he was responsible for a corporate
contributions budget of $1.5 million dollars for community
investment. He has coordinated cross-functional and
multicultural teams to gain market recognition, implement
organizational change, review corporate processes and
policies, measure program implementation outcomes and improve
communication strategies. His work as a change agent has
resulted in improved corporate processes and policies, new
programs for community outreach and work team integration. He
is an accomplished event planner for corporate clients and
non-profit organizations.
He shares his corporate experience in strategic planning,
marketing strategies and project management as a volunteer
facilitator with non-profit organizations and small business
owners.
Jose was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is a graduate
from the University of Puerto Rico, in San Juan, P.R. with a
Bachelor's degree in Science Education. He also has a Master's
degree in Science Education from Temple University in
Philadelphia, PA. He has completed courses at Boston College,
MA: Certificate in Community Relations; project management
courses from the American Management Association and
Pennsylvania State University, PA. He currently resides in
Houston, Texas.
