Scot Mitchell, Senior
Consultant
Scot is a skilled business and sales manager with
experience in both large companies as well as small,
entrepreneurial organizations. Prior to joining Baker
Communications, his business career started with Fina Oil and
Chemical where he rose from Sales Representative through many
promotions in sales management and product management to
become Vice President and General Manager of their $500+
million Styrenics Division.
His accomplishments include leading this organization to
record sales and profits, playing a lead role in bringing the
largest production facility of its type on line, normalizing
relations between the Brussels-based parent and its U.S.
business units, improving on his business unit's position as
the world's lowest cost manufacturer, as well as leading the
organization to the number one position in customer
satisfaction among peers. In addition, during his career with
Fina he led the re-engineering of the plastics division’s
supply chain and the implementation of balanced scorecards.
In 2000, he was recruited by TownsendTarnell.com as Chief
Operating Officer. In 2001, he was promoted to President and
CEO of Townsend's Polymer Services and Information, an
information provider to the plastics and petrochemicals
industry. Under his leadership, this organization re-focused
its efforts on its core competencies, re-engineering all of
the core product areas including implementation of the largest
product as an internet based product.
Scot has lived and worked in Europe as well as in
many parts of the United States. He has served on numerous
corporate committees, including Fina’s Product Stewardship
Council, SAP Steering Committee and Corporate HSE Steering
Committee. He has served on the Board of Directors of the
Polystyrene Packaging Council, the Styrene Information
Research Council, the National Polystyrene Recycling Company,
Cosmar Inc., a joint venture of Fina and General Electric
Plastics, and Phillip Townsend Associates.
Scot is a graduate of Utah State University
with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and a minor
in Economics. Previously, he had earned an Associate of
Applied Science in Forestry at Paul Smith’s College in New
York State.
