According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, nearly 15,000 sexual harassment cases are reported in any given year. Some studies have found that anywhere from 40 to 70% of female employees and 10 to 20% of male employees have experienced sexual harassment on the job.

The most effective way to eliminate sexual harassment in the workplace is to focus on awareness and prevention. Rather than reacting after the fact to events that may have a lasting emotional and physical effect on employees and a financial effect on the organization, employers do well to take proactive steps to ensure that sexual harassment will not occur in the workplace.
