Gender Based Negotiations Workshop

Today, more and more women are breaking through the glass ceiling and making a strong impact on the corporate world. The negotiating table, a seat traditionally held down by only men, is becoming increasing mixed and diverse. Professional negotiators are suddenly finding themselves unable to negotiate a win-win deal as successfully with female negotiators than with a male opponent, thus cutting overall profitability for the company. Research at major business schools has proven that men and women negotiate differently and those who realize these differences, and have the skills to use them to their advantage, are the ones who are the most successful in mixed gender negotiations.

Gender Based Negotiations is our one-day workshop that focuses specifically on the skills necessary to bridge the gender gap and facilitate successful win-win negotiations with parties of any gender. Participants learn through discussion, video taping, and extensive one-on-one feedback how to recognize the differences in negotiation styles and behaviors between genders that result in more wins and more dollars. Gender Based Negotiations will provide you and your negotiation team with skills and tools that will allow you to read your opponent, make effective decisions, and communicate more effectively with any gender. Objectives:

Participants will learn to:

  • Recognize different behavioral cues for men and for women.
  • Understand the different ways in which men and women react to each of the different negotiation tactics and counter-tactics.
  • Evaluate the strengths and weakness of each gender in different negotiation settings.
  • Create a successful negotiation plan based on their assessment of the overall negotiation setting.
  • Communicate effectively with members of each gender for optimal impact.
  • Interpret body language, verbal cues, and word choice from each gender.
  • Understand the overall differences in the ways men and women are treated in the corporate world, and how that translates to the negotiation table.
  • Use specific negotiation tactics that appeal to mixed negotiating teams.
  • Coordinate their own negotiation team to best utilize the member’s assets and strengths.
  • Recognize both the positive and negative ways in which they currently negotiate with each gender.
