Wood Group, a major international energy services company, has asked that Baker Communications deliver several customized training workshops for various segments of the company. Company representatives had previously attended a Baker open-enrollment workshop and subsequently requested customized training content focusing on front-line management leadership skills. Baker designed and piloted their Front Line Leadership Training seminar for select Wood Group management teams. The company was so pleased with the workshop that it is now being rolled out to all front-line managers, and Wood Group also requested additional Finance for Non-Financial Managers training. The company also had a training need among their purchasing teams, and Baker customized a negotiations training seminar to target the specific needs of those working with suppliers. Baker will also be providing management training for graduate students participating in Wood Group’s rotation program. In Baker, Wood Group found a responsive, flexible, client-oriented training partner with the patience to obtain a deep understanding of the company’s needs, the capability and willingness to customize its high-quality training content to match those specific needs, and a global reach that mitigated the necessity of additional travel fees for delivery of international sessions.
A Wood Group Vice-President wrote: “I wanted to thank you and all involved at Baker Communications for the excellent training you presented… I have had strong positive feedback from it, and this probably puts it at the top of the ratings list regarding training we have put on in the past couple of years.”
Senior Level Baker Communications Instructors and Negotiations, Leadership and Finance Experts will deliver the custom workshops to Wood Group staff in Houston, Oklahoma City, and Aberdeen, Scotland. Managers participating in the Front-Line Leadership and Finance for Non-Financial Managers training sessions will learn and practice key leadership skills such as delegation and performance evaluation, which will lead to better planning, improved feedback, and more efficient and productive departments. Managers will also gain a basic understanding of corporate financial structure and how to read essential financial reports, enhancing their big-picture understanding of the company’s functioning and their own roles within it. Purchasing staff attending the Negotiation Skills for Purchasing workshop will learn and practice key negotiations skills such as recognizing and neutralizing negotiation tactics, de-escalating conflict, and identifying and applying concession strategies, to help ensure that their negotiations are well planned, conflict-free and result in satisfactory outcomes for both parties.
