Baker Communications has been selected by the United States Department of Agriculture to deliver Exceptional Presentations training to its employees. The USDA is encouraging its contracting personnel in charge of acquisitions for food and nutrition services to switch from phone negotiations to face-to-face negotiations. They were seeking training to help their staff to make the change and prepare them to handle collaborative negotiations in person. Baker has delivered training for the USDA previously on other subjects, and the Department was pleased to find that Baker‘s Win-Win Negotiations seminar addressed their current needs. The USDA appreciated the win-win approach endorsed by the training and the live role-plays included in the interactive seminar, which will enable their personnel to practice their live negotiation skills before applying their new skills on the job.

A Baker Win-Win Negotiations Senior Level Training Instructor will lead the training session for USDA contracting personnel. Participants in this highly interactive collaborative negotiations training class will learn and practice recognizing a number of negotiation styles, strategies and tactics, allowing them to stay one step ahead throughout the negotiation process. Agents attending this negotiations training session will also learn how to plan ahead for negotiations, how to set expectations, and a set of different concession strategies, preparing workshop participants to more effectively negotiate in any situation.

About the USDA

The United States Department of Agriculture provides leadership on food, agriculture, natural resources, and related issues based on sound public policy, the best available science, and efficient management.

The USDA wants to be recognized as a dynamic organization that is able to efficiently provide the integrated program delivery needed to lead a rapidly evolving food and agriculture system.

The USDA has created a strategic plan to implement its vision. The framework of this plan depends on these key activities: expanding markets for agricultural products and support international economic development, further developing alternative markets for agricultural products and activities, providing financing needed to help expand job opportunities and improve housing, utilities and infrastructure in rural America, enhancing food safety by taking steps to reduce the prevalence of food-borne hazards from farm to table, improving nutrition and health by providing food assistance and nutrition education and promotion, and managing and protecting America's public and private lands working cooperatively with other levels of government and the private sector.
